Originally built in 1900 as, we suspect, a kit home from Sears and Robuck, this home sits on the remaining 175 acres of its original homestead.   

Some of the iconic farmhouse details of this home are a wraparound front porch, stained glass windows in the entry, a mini closet under entrance stairs, a classic parlor with an 8’ sliding door, dainty filigree details framing the archway between the living room and dining room, and a quarter-sawn oak fireplace mantel with fluted columns supporting  a framed beveled edge mirror. 

Because there was no original indoor bathroom, we added one with a new master suite and converted one of the upper-level bedrooms into a turn-of-the-century full bath.  We also added a scullery to preserve the classic feel of the original, though very small, kitchen, providing all the amenities you would expect for modern cooking. The entry of the home boasts a classic wooden staircase that doesn’t meet any of today’s codes. So, while preserving this original detail, we added a second flight from the mudroom to the second floor that is both period appropriate and practical. The addition of a mudroom, laundry room and a half bath functionally brought this age-old classic completely up to date while preserving its original charm
